Katrina Froome Naturopathy - FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Starting your health journey can bring up a lot of questions, especially if you're new to naturopathy or have been living with ongoing symptoms without clear answers.

This page is here to help you understand what to expect, how I work, what is included in your consultations and whether my approach feels like the right fit for you.

Whether you're seeking support for gut health, IBS, SIBO, IMO or IBD, women's health and hormonal changes, stress and anxiety, fatigue, thyroid or metabolic health, or an ongoing health concern, my approach is personalised, collaborative and evidence-informed.

If you can't find the answer you're looking for, please feel free to get in touch.

Getting Started

Do I need a diagnosis before booking?

No. Many people come to see me because they know something doesn't feel right, even if they haven't received a diagnosis or have been told that their results are "normal".

Together, we'll explore your symptoms, health history, nutrition, lifestyle, medications, supplements and health goals to help determine the most appropriate next steps.

Where medical investigation is needed, I may also recommend discussing further testing or assessment with your GP or specialist.

What can I expect at my first appointment?

Your first consultation gives us time to explore your health story in detail.

We'll discuss your current symptoms and concerns, medical and family history, nutrition, digestion, sleep, stress, lifestyle, medications, supplements and any pathology or testing you may already have.

From there, I'll begin putting the pieces together and develop a personalised treatment plan that is realistic and appropriate for you.

There is plenty of time to ask questions, and my aim is for you to leave with a clear understanding of what we're working on and what happens next.

Consultations & Appointments

Everyone's health journey is different, which is why I offer several consultation options depending on where you are in your treatment.

Your consultation fee covers more than the time we spend together. Depending on the type of appointment, it may also include preparation, review of your health history and previous notes, clinical assessment, pathology or functional testing review, clinical research, treatment planning, prescription preparation and clinical record keeping.

Initial Naturopathy Consultation – 60 minutes

$195

This is the starting point for most new clients.

Your Initial Consultation allows us to explore your current health concerns as well as the bigger picture of your health.

This may include:

  • Your current symptoms and main health concerns

  • Medical and family history

  • Digestive and bowel health

  • Women's health, menstrual or hormonal history where relevant

  • Stress, nervous-system health and emotional wellbeing

  • Sleep, energy and fatigue

  • Nutrition and lifestyle

  • Current medications and supplements

  • Previous pathology or test results

  • Your health priorities and goals

Following your consultation, you will receive a personalised treatment plan and, where appropriate, a prescription outlining nutritional, herbal, supplemental or lifestyle recommendations.

Functional testing may be discussed if I feel it could provide useful additional information, but testing is not automatically required.

Extended Initial Naturopathy Consultation – 90 minutes

$225

The Extended Initial Consultation is available for new clients who have a more complex or extensive health history and would benefit from additional time.

It may be particularly suitable if you have several health concerns occurring together, a long or complicated medical history, multiple medications or supplements, significant previous pathology or testing, or simply feel that 60 minutes won't give us enough time to comfortably work through your story.

It includes the same comprehensive assessment and personalised treatment planning as an Initial Consultation, with additional consultation time so that we don't need to rush through a complex history.

Report of Findings Consultation – 60 minutes

$150

A Report of Findings appointment is generally used when we have completed functional testing and need dedicated time to go through your results.

This may include testing such as:

  • Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)

  • Microbiome testing

  • SIBO breath testing

  • FoodFit testing

  • Other functional testing arranged as part of your care

Rather than simply giving you a copy of your results, we'll work through what the findings mean in the context of your symptoms, health history and treatment goals.

Your results are then used to help guide your next stage of treatment, which may include nutrition, lifestyle, herbal or nutritional support and recommendations for further medical investigation where appropriate.

Follow-Up Naturopathy Consultation – 45 minutes

$125

Follow-up consultations are where we review how you're progressing and adjust your treatment as your needs change.

During your follow-up we may review:

  • Changes in symptoms

  • What's improving and what still needs support

  • Your response to supplements or herbal medicine

  • Nutrition and lifestyle changes

  • New pathology or medical information

  • Any challenges you've experienced with your treatment plan

  • Whether your prescription needs to be continued, changed, reduced or progressed to the next stage

Treatment is not designed to remain static. Your plan is reviewed and adjusted as we learn more about how your body is responding.

Extended Follow-Up Consultation – 60–75 minutes

$150

An Extended Follow-Up is available when we need more time than a standard follow-up allows.

This may be helpful for clients with complex or chronic health concerns, several areas requiring review, significant changes to their health or medical care, or when new results or information need to be considered alongside their existing treatment plan.

Mini Consultation – up to 30 minutes

$95

Mini Consultations are designed for existing clients who need a shorter appointment between their regular consultations.

They may be useful when we need to discuss a specific concern, review a smaller change in symptoms, adjust part of your treatment or prescription, or address something that doesn't require a full follow-up consultation.

Mini Consultations are not suitable for new clients or comprehensive health reviews.

Clinical Review – up to 30 minutes

$95

A Clinical Review is available for existing clients when information or clinical work needs to be reviewed outside a standard consultation.

This may include more detailed review of new pathology or medical information, an existing treatment plan, prescription changes, clinical research or more complex health updates that require professional assessment.

If you have a quick administrative question, you are always welcome to contact me. A Clinical Review is used when your question requires clinical assessment, research or changes to your treatment rather than a simple administrative response.

Which consultation should I book?

If you're a new client, please choose an Initial or Extended Initial Naturopathy Consultation.

If you're an existing client, the most appropriate appointment will depend on what we need to review and how much time is required.

If you're unsure, please contact me and I'm happy to point you in the right direction.

Appointments are available in person in Springfield Lakes and online Australia-wide.

Testing & Treatment

Do you recommend functional testing?

In many cases, yes. Many of my clients come to me because they have been experiencing ongoing symptoms and are looking for greater clarity around why they don't feel well and what may be contributing to their health concerns.

Functional testing can provide valuable additional information and help us look a little deeper. Depending on your individual symptoms, health history and treatment goals, this may include:

  • Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)

  • Microbiome testing

  • SIBO breath testing

  • FoodFit testing

  • Other appropriate functional testing

Testing can help provide a useful baseline, identify areas that may need further support and, in some cases, give us a missing piece of your health puzzle. It can also help take some of the guesswork out of developing a more targeted treatment approach.

However, testing is always optional, and not everyone needs it.

Many clients can begin treatment using their health history, symptoms, nutrition, lifestyle and existing pathology as our starting point. We can then consider further testing if it becomes clinically useful as treatment progresses.

If I believe functional testing may provide useful additional information, we'll discuss what the test looks at, why I am recommending it, the cost and how the results may influence your treatment before you decide whether you'd like to proceed.

Will I need to take lots of supplements?

Not necessarily.

I prefer targeted prescribing rather than giving you supplements simply for the sake of giving you supplements.

When nutritional supplements or herbal medicines are recommended, they are selected according to your individual needs and reviewed as your treatment progresses.

For people with chronic or more complex health concerns, treatment may sometimes need to be introduced in stages. This allows us to assess tolerance, avoid unnecessary supplement overload and make your treatment more manageable.

Where possible, the longer-term aim is always to simplify your prescription as your health improves.

Do you prescribe strict diets?

Most of the time, no.

My approach to nutrition is gentle, realistic and focused on nourishment rather than unnecessary restriction.

There may be times when a more structured therapeutic diet is useful — particularly when working with SIBO, significant digestive symptoms or particular microbiome findings — but this is generally used purposefully rather than becoming a permanent way of eating.

Where foods have been temporarily reduced, the goal is to broaden your diet again as your digestive health improves.

Do you work alongside GPs and specialists?

Absolutely.

Naturopathic care can work alongside conventional medical care, and I value a collaborative approach.

I do not ask clients to stop prescribed medications or replace appropriate medical treatment. Where necessary, I may recommend discussing symptoms, pathology, medication or further investigation with your GP or specialist.

Areas of Support

What health concerns do you work with?

My clinical work commonly includes:

  • Gut health, IBS, SIBO, IMO, IBD

  • Bloating, constipation, diarrhoea and digestive discomfort

  • Reflux and digestive function

  • Women's health

  • Perimenopause and menopause

  • PMS, PMDD and hormonal changes

  • Stress, anxiety and nervous-system support

  • Fatigue, exhaustion and burnout

  • Sleep concerns

  • Thyroid and metabolic health

  • Mineral balance

  • Histamine-related symptoms

  • Immune and inflammatory health

  • Skin concerns

  • Chronic or complex health concerns

  • General health and wellbeing

My focus is not simply on a diagnosis or one isolated symptom. I look at how different areas of your health may be interacting and what practical steps we can take to support you.

Do you see men as well as women?

Yes.

While women's health forms a large part of my clinical work, I also work with men experiencing digestive concerns, stress, fatigue, sleep difficulties, metabolic health concerns and general wellbeing issues.

Do you see children?

Yes.

I offer gentle, family-centred naturopathic support for children and teenagers where naturopathic care is appropriate.

Do you work with women using medically prescribed weight-loss medications?

Yes.

I can provide naturopathic and nutritional support alongside medically prescribed GLP-1 and other weight-management medications.

We may look at areas such as nutrition, digestive health, bowel function, protein and nutrient intake, energy, muscle health and maintaining adequate nourishment while appetite is reduced.

I do not prescribe, adjust or manage these medications. Medication management remains with your prescribing GP or specialist.

Do you support ongoing fatigue and chronic health concerns?

Yes.

I commonly work with people experiencing longer-term fatigue, poor resilience, sleep disturbance, digestive changes and other ongoing symptoms.

Rather than assuming there is one cause, we'll look at your overall health picture and determine which areas need further investigation or support.

Where appropriate, I also encourage medical investigation and collaborative care with your GP or specialist.

Do you help with anxiety, stress and burnout?

Yes.

My work recognises the close relationship between the nervous system, digestion, sleep, hormones, energy and emotional wellbeing.

Support may include nutritional and herbal medicine, lifestyle strategies and nervous-system support, depending on your individual needs.

Practical Information

Do you offer online consultations?

Yes.

Online naturopathy consultations are available Australia-wide.

Online appointments follow the same clinical process as in-person naturopathy consultations, making them a convenient option if you don't live locally or simply prefer consulting from home.

What should I bring to my appointment?

If you have them available, please bring or send through:

  • Recent blood test or pathology results

  • Relevant specialist reports

  • Functional testing results

  • A current medication list

  • A list or photographs of supplements you're currently taking

Don't worry if you don't have everything. We can work through what is available and decide whether anything else would be useful.

Do you accept Medicare or Private Health?

Medicare: Naturopathy is not currently covered by Medicare.

Private Health: Some private health funds have reinstated naturopathy rebates from 1 April 2026.

Eligible ARHG and CBHS members may be able to claim naturopathy consultations depending on their individual policy and level of cover.

As health-fund arrangements can change, I recommend checking directly with your health fund regarding your eligibility for a rebate.

What is your cancellation and no-show policy?

I understand that plans sometimes change.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice wherever possible so the appointment can be offered to another client.

Missed appointments/no-shows incur 100% of the consultation fee.

Late cancellations may also incur a cancellation fee depending on the circumstances and the amount of notice provided.

Body Balance Kinesiology Treatments

What is a Body Balance Kinesiology Treatment?

Body Balance Kinesiology is a gentle, individualised treatment designed to support nervous-system regulation, emotional wellbeing and a greater sense of balance.

Sessions may incorporate muscle testing, meridian work, body awareness, emotional or timeline-based techniques, Reiki and other gentle energetic remedies or techniques according to what is appropriate for you during the session.

Body Balance Kinesiology is not used to diagnose medical conditions.

Who may enjoy a Body Balance Kinesiology Treatment?

These treatments may be particularly supportive when you're experiencing stress, overwhelm, emotional fatigue or simply feel that you need some time to slow down and reconnect with yourself.

They may be booked as a standalone treatment or used alongside naturopathic care.

What happens during a treatment?

Every session is individual.

You remain fully clothed and comfortably supported throughout your treatment. Muscle testing is used to help guide the session and determine the techniques or remedies used.

The overall experience is gentle and designed to provide a calm space away from the busyness of everyday life.

Does Body Balance Kinesiology replace naturopathic or medical care?

No.

Body Balance Kinesiology is a complementary wellbeing treatment. It does not diagnose or treat medical conditions and does not replace naturopathic consultations, medical assessment or appropriate healthcare.

Can I book Body Balance Kinesiology without being a naturopathy client?

Yes.

You don't need to be an existing naturopathy client to book a Body Balance Kinesiology Treatment.

Where can I book?

Body Balance Kinesiology Treatments are available in person in Springfield Lakes, with online options available where appropriate.
